Russian Malware Code Discovered in US Power Utility Laptop

Malware

The US-based Burlington Electric Department (BED) recently discovered malware, which was distributed by the Neutrino exploit kit, in a laptop computer. The BED scanned its computer network after receiving an alert from the US Department of Home Security and discovered the malware. The malware is allegedly associated with Russian cyber operations that interfered with the US presidential elections in November last year. The laptop was not connected to the power grid at the time of detection. The BED said that customer information and system security were not compromised.
